How to add the Moments widget on iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Add and customize the Moments widget on iPhone or iPad home screen or Today View.
iOS widgets show your countdowns on the Home Screen.
Add the widget (iOS 14 and later)
-
Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
-
Tap the + button in the top-left corner to open the widget gallery.
-
Search for "Moments" or scroll to find the Moments widget.
-
Choose the widget size you want, tap "Add Widget," then move it where you like and tap Done.
-
Tap the widget to configure which event to display (if the widget supports per-widget configuration).
Customize background and appearance
-
To change the background used by the widget, open Moments > select the event > Edit > Background > choose Unsplash or Upload.
-
Changes will reflect in the widget after a short refresh. If not, remove and re-add the widget.
Verification
- The widget should show a live countdown. If the time is frozen, tap the widget (if it opens the app) and check the event details.
Troubleshooting
-
If the widget is blank or shows the wrong event, remove and re-add it, then select the correct event inside the app.
-
If images are missing, allow Moments access to Photos (Settings > Moments > Photos).
Note
- Widget configuration options and capabilities vary slightly between Android and iOS; if a setting you expect is not available, check for an app update.
