How to add the Moments Countdown widget on Android
Place Moments widgets on your Android home screen for quick countdown at a glance.
Android home screen widgets give you quick access to live countdowns.
Add the widget
- Long-press an empty area of your Android home screen until the launcher menu appears.
- Tap "Widgets." Scroll until you find "Moments" or "Moments Countdown".
- Tap and hold the widget you want (there may be size options). Drag it to your desired spot and release.
- When the widget is placed, open the Moments app if prompted and select which event(s) to display.
Customize widget appearance
- Tap the widget (or open the app and edit the widget configuration) to change the background image (Unsplash or Upload), text color, and which event(s) to show.
- Use the widget size handle (if your launcher supports it) to resize the widget.
Common verification steps
- The widget should show an updating countdown (days, hours, minutes) for the selected event.
- If the widget shows "No event" or a stale time, open the app and confirm the selected event exists.
Troubleshooting
- If the widget doesn't update:
- Make sure the app has permission to run in the background and that battery optimizations are disabled for Moments.
- Re-add the widget after a reboot.
- If images don’t load, check network access and that you allowed photo permissions for the app.
Edge cases
- Some custom launchers handle widgets differently; consult your launcher’s help if steps above don’t match exactly.
